PLDDB launches pure milk at Rs75 per litre


LAHORE – Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Board (PLDDB) has launched milk project to provide 100 percent pure, healthy, hygienic and affordable milk through automatic milk vending machines at Rs75 per litre only.

First automatic machine has been installed in Township model bazaar, Lahore and more machines will be installed in the different locations of Lahore gradually.

PLDDB procure pure Sahiwal cow A2 type milk from its own farm situated at Khizerabad, Sargodha and processed it at its own pasteurization and chilling plant as per international standards and then dispatched to Lahore through chiller van finally milk is being delivered to end consumers via automatic milk vending machine in sealed packs.

On the Punjab pure milk launching occasion, PLDDB chairman and Minister for Labour Raja Ashfaq Sarwar said that Livestock Board has laid down the foundations of modern dairy in Pakistan and other companies can solve the issues in milk industry while following these lines.

He said that Pakistan is in top five milk producing countries in the world but unfortunately we could not work properly on the milk supply chain in the past but today we have started it.

He said that almost half population of Pakistan is facing diseases due to milk deficiency or impure milk and we hope that this project will reduce the issue.

He further said that we can proudly claim that only Punjab Pure Milk is 100 percent traceable milk in Pakistan because we procure milk from own farm and process it at own plants so there is zero chance of adulteration.

On this occasion PLDDB Director Miss Saira Iftakhar said that we manufactured whole machinery of Punjab Pure Milk locally so its cost is affordable and low than imported machines; it took more than one year on its manufacturing in collaboration with local engineering companies.

She further added that by local manufacturing, the cost reduced and we will also not face hurdles in its maintenance and spare parts issues.
